Route Helper / Laborer

Responsibilities

  • Safely riding short distances on the back of garbage truck
  • Safely operating packing controls on garbage truck
  • Safely dumping cans, carts, and dumpsters
  • Returning customers cans / carts in a neat and safe manner
  • Lifting items up to 75lbs
  • Talking to customers in a courteous and polite manner
  • Washing garbage truck and other equipment
  • Delivery and removal of containers as needed using pickup and trailer
  • Assembly and preparation of new containers prior to delivery to customers
  • Repairs and maintenance of dumpsters and totes
  • Assist in daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of truck hydraulic systems (greasing)

This is not exhaustive list of responsibilities and additional duties may be assigned as needed.

What to Expect

  • Follow directions completely from management, supervisor and driver
  • Work around moving and dangerous machinery on the garbage truck
  • Work in and around street traffic (moving and stationary)
  • Work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)

Requirements

Valid driver’s license or commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a minimum of three (3) years of clean driving history.

Hours

Daytime weekdays, with some weekends
